Pastor Job Description:

• Be in agreement with and adhere to the doctrinal statement of the Southern Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as adopted by the SBC
• Be passionate for preaching the Word of God with biblical and doctrinal soundness, with power, authority, and excitement; being both evangelistic and expository
• A man who is a self motivated leader that loves people and has the ability to relate to those of all age groups, backgrounds, and spiritual maturity
• A man who desires to build unity within the church as well as relationships with the community, to grow the church ministry in meaningful ways
• A man who supports missions locally and abroad
• Act as moderator for quarterly church business meetings
• Responsibile for the morning services on Sunday
• Conduct counseling sessions, perform wedding ceremonies, and conduct funerals
• Plan and provide baby dedications, baptisms, and Lord’s Supper services
• Work with church officers and committees/teams as they perform their assigned responsibilities; and train and lead leaders in their ministry
• Provide pastoral care as needed for the church family
• Expected to reside in the local community
• Build-up the congregation
• Be bivocational

Job Posting for Pastor at Grass Valley Baptist Church, Winnemucca, NV

Grass Valley Baptist Church is a small/medium sized (200 members/ avg. attendance of 100) elder-led congregation composed of mostly young to middle-aged families and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We are a rural church located outside of Winnemucca (pop. 10,000) in the high mountain desert of N. Central Nevada. As a congregation we want to reach and make disciples through community outreach, equip families to be the primary evangelists and disciplers of their children, use the Word of God as the foundation of our counseling, and grow in Christian community. We enjoy healthy relationships and joint ministry with a variety of other Christian churches in town.

We are looking for a full time pastor of like mind to lead and equip our church. In addition to a deep love for God, a clear call to pastoral ministry, and the other traits and skills typically desired of a pastor, he must possess the following:

1. A willingness to work through the challenges of the moral, lifestyle, and spiritual cultures particular to Nevada.
2. Demonstrated success in preaching, teaching, and counseling.
3. Strong people skills.
4. A seminary degree is preferred but not mandatory.
