Adobe Acrobat Reader

Description
The Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to "browse portable document format (PDF) files that have been created by Adobe Acrobat."  It also enables you to fill in interactive PDF forms. An ActiveX control for Internet Explorer and a plug-in for Netscape Navigator are included and automatically installed in the browser of your choice.  Support for the latest version of the Acrobat file format, Adobe PDF 1.3, is included, as well as support for all versions of PostScript, including the new PostScript 3.0. Another feature is the ability to download and install Asian font packs, which enable you to view PDF files that contain Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fonts on non-Asian operating systems using Acrobat Reader 4.05.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Description
Internet Browser which includes support for Dynamic HTML, Java, and the Channel Definition Format (CDF). An AutoSearch feature lets you choose your search engine and display search results in different ways. In the History box, you can sort the list of sites by date, site, most visited, or the order visited. The AutoComplete feature displays a drop-down list of matching sites when you start to type a URL in the address bar. AutoComplete also works with Web forms, displaying a list of previous entries when you start to type in a field on a Web site. To automate login processes even further, you can also save usernames and passwords for particular sites. Internet Explorer offers 128-bit encryption and includes a Radio Toolbar, which allows you to listen to radio stations over the Internet as you browse. IE also allows you to select the default email, calendar, newsgroup, and HTML editors of your choice. You can even designate your Web-based email provider as the default email program. Version 5.5 SP1, the latest in this Web browser line, includes the ability to apply Connection Manager as your default dialer when Dial-Up Networking is already installed, preview Web pages exactly as they'll appear when printed with Print Preview, and with improved support for DHTML and CSS, Web architects will appreciate the greater control over browser appearance and behavior. IE 5.5 SP1 also features additional support for the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL).

WS_FTP LE

Description
WS_FTP LE (limited edition) transfers files over the internet. It has an easy-to-use graphical interface and advanced features. It contains profiles that can be set up to toggle between commonly visited FTP sites. Newer features included corrections to FTP servers for year 2000 compliance; a default transfer mode option in session parameters; auto re-get; prompts for file overwrites and preserving file date and time; support for new firewall and host types; and other minor corrections.

Microsoft NetMeeting

Description
Microsoft's NetMeeting integrates audio, data, and videoconferencing into one package. Its data-conferencing features let you "draw on a shared whiteboard, send text messages, transfer files, and collaborate" in real time with multiple people within any Windows application. NetMeeting's real-time audio features let you talk to other people over the Internet. Version 3.01 offers many new features and enhancements. The program now has a Web-based Internet directory, and a smaller, task-based user interface that can be embedded in a Web page via an ActiveX control. Also, shared programs now appear in new windows on your desktop and can be resized or minimized. NetMeeting calls can now be placed to telephones and videoconferencing systems through the use of gateways or gatekeepers. Another new feature is Remote Desktop Sharing, which allows you to access and use one computer from another by sharing the desktop. Many performance improvements have also been made, including lower bandwidth requirements for faster performance, support for 24-bit true color, enhanced security, and, on faster multimedia machines and high-speed networks, NetMeeting can now achieve up to 30-frames-per-second video performance.
