WORLD HUNGER: It's time to get personal

Hunger is no respecter of geography or ethnic group. It can be felt in an apartment in Eastern Europe, a cardboard shack in Central America, a tent in the Sahara, or a farmhouse in rural America.

Southern Baptist missionaries and volunteers are offering nourishment for the body and soul. And every Southern Baptist can have a part in those ministries through gifts to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund.

Where does my money go?

Twenty cents of every dollar is sent to the North American Mission Board. These funds are used to support hunger projects in the United States.

Eighty cents of every dollar is sent to the International Mission Board. These funds are used for direct hunger ministry as well as water well drilling, agricultural education, water purification,
etc.

World Hunger Fund Giving Statistics

  • 100% of all contributions to feed hungry people. (Personnel are already in place; thus, administrative and promotional costs are borne out of other budgets.)
  • In 2009, Southern Baptists gave $5,036,025 to the World Hunger Fund. (ERLC, 2010)
  • In 2010, Southern Baptist hunger ministries fed more than 5 million meals to the hungry in North America. As a result, more than 33,000 professions of faith were reported. (NAMB Report)
  • Southern Baptists'gifts for world hunger provided for projects in more than 68 countries in 2008.
